
Kirstin Myers
Mental Health Counselor
Kirstin joined us for her internship many years ago and has now joined us as a clinician. Her area of specialty is with children. Prior to becoming a Mental Health Counselor, she worked for many years as a teacher.
Kïrstin is a licensed Mental Health Counselor. She earned her master’s degree in 2021 at Grand Canyon University in Professional Counseling with an Emphasis in Childhood and Adolescent Disorders. Kïrstin completed her internship at Canyon Lakes Family Counseling and then worked at Lutheran Community Services Northwest upon graduation, working with a range of youth and families, and adults. Her previous work history includes teaching Special Education, preschool through high school. Outside of work, Kïrstin has participated in humanitarian service to provide support to communities in poverty and women and children who have experienced trauma/abuse, both locally and around the world. Over the course of her life, she has been blessed with experiences that have guided her path and fueled a passion for helping children and individuals with special needs and who are experiencing a range of difficulties. Kïrstin’s therapeutic approach is integrated and strength-based, empowering individuals to reach their potential through self-awareness, acceptance, and openness. It is rooted in person-centered and cognitive behavioral theories, with an ability to adapt to the needs and preferences of individuals. Additional theories and evidence-based modalities, such as family systems therapy and play therapy, may also used in treatment. Kïrstin views her role as counselor as one who assists individuals and families in recognizing options, problem-solving, utilizing resources, trying things in a new way, developing skills and healthy relationships, and encouraging them to discover and build on their strengths.
